Skyridge Wildlife Garden’s mission is to care for creation cooperatively with mother nature in such a way as to increase biodiversity and reduce unsustainable lawn area. We commit to educate ourselves and our community in the beauty and ecology of native Michigan plants and wildlife. The garden provides an outdoor oasis nestled between close-packed apartment housing and a bustling commercial district. It offers foraging and nesting sites for native pollinators and songbirds as well as a quiet retreat for relaxation and contemplation amidst our busy lives.
The Skyridge Wildlife Garden project is made possible by a generous grant from The Calhoun Conservation District as well as other private donations. We are working in collaboration with the Kalamazoo chapter of Wild Ones, Monarch Watch, and Michigan State University’s Master Gardener Volunteer Program. We sincerely thank our partners for their continued advice and support. Skyridge Wildlife Garden is registered with the USDA People’s Garden Network.
